“Everything has Changed” by Taylor Swift (ft. Ed Sheeran)

All things considered, love songs are the most common which the music industry has to offer. And as far as such pieces go, they’re often based on the idea of how the vocalist’s life has been holistically edified since striking up a relationship with the addressee. According to Taylor Swift, such is also the lyrical intent of “Everything Has Changed”, as implied by the title.

Thus in the first verse, we have Tay Tay relaying a feeling of smittenness towards Ed. In the second, Sheeran expresses a willingness to, most simply put, open up his entire life to Taylor.  And this does read like fresh romance, since the pre-chorus revolves around the vocalists’ strong desire to get to ‘know each other better’. And the actual chorus implies that this may be a love-at-first-sight type of scenario.

This track, which came out on 16 July 2013, marks the first official collaboration between Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. However, as we have noted in the past, the pair wrote another song, “Run“, before “Everything Has Changed”, though the former didn’t get around to being released until 2021.

This song is from 2012’s “Red”, one of the best-selling albums in Taylor Swift’s catalog.

Big Machine Records issued “Everything Has Changed” as the sixth of seven singles from “Red”. The song managed to chart in nearly 10 countries, most notably peaking at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart. And even though the tune didn’t similarly impress on the Billboard Hot 100 (where it reached 32nd place), the song still achieved double-platinum certification stateside as of 2018.

It was initially Taylor Swift’s idea to collaborate with Ed, who by 2014 had also established himself as an international music star.
