“Golden” by LP

“Golden” came out on 10 May 2023, at the time being announced as the lead single from LP’s seventh-studio album, “Love Lines”. Both song and album are the products of BMG and Ukerazy Productions. By the looks of things LP was born a female but has since fully embraced the gender-neutral route.

So she is commonly referred to using the associated politically-correct pronouns, such as they and their.  But for the sake of readability, in this post we wanted to refer to the vocalist using female pronouns. However, on a second thought, let’s just stick to “they” to avoid any controversies.

That said, it is LP who co-wrote “Golden” alongside these other songwriters:

  • Ashton Irwin
  • Andrew Berkeley
  • Matthew Pauling

In addition to co-writing “Golden”, Pauling also solely handled its entire production works.

Lyrics of “Golden”

The title of this song, as utilized in the chorus, is indicative of the vocalist’s high valuation of the romantic relationship they are in with the addressee. But in that selfsame passage, LP is compelled to also argue that their union is “not broken”.

In other words, they have opted to think positively against the romance at hand, as it currently stands, being a troubled one. And along those lines, what’s being implied in the first verse is that the two parties involved may have already parted ways.

“We are golden
We’re not broken, yeah
We are golden
We’re not broken, yeah”

As such, the thesis sentiment being of this piece more or less represents the singer’s attempt to keep things from completely falling apart.

So again, LP’s strategy in that regard is to rather harp on the specialness of the relationship they share with the addressee. That is to say that the vocalist is appealing to said individual’s mutual understanding that the love between them is a “beautiful”, cherishable one. Therefore, he or she should not let should not let what may ultimately prove to be, all things considered, a flash-in-the-pan disagreement utterly destroy a good thing.
