“Bad Life” by Sigrid & Bring Me The Horizon

“Bad Life” is filled with metaphors pointing to the notion of life being unbearably difficult for many of us. And not only that, but things may be so enduringly messed up that there may not any foreseeable reason to believe they will change for the better.

But Sigrid and Oli Sykes are here to let us know adopting such a perpetually-depressing outlook is not based on reality. In other words, having “a bad day” is not the same as “a bad life”. So reading in between the lines, the message being put forth is that we should not overreact to the less-than-ideal eras that we may go through.

Bring Me the Horizon, who thus far have six studio albums under their belt, is the more established of the two acts participating on this song. And besides for Sigrid it was two members of said crew, Jordan Fish and Oli Sykes, who wrote “Bad Life”. In fact it was reportedly they who originated the tune during the COVID-19 lockdowns, which was in fact a universally-depressing affair.

According to Sigrid, the song is about rough times that can make one feel as though they are never going to see happiness again.

For the record, Bring Me the Horizon is from England, while Sigrid is Norwegian.  And it was BMTH’s idea to Sigrid her for this song after learning that she was a fan of theirs and vice versa).

This track comes complete with a music video, which Raja Verdi directed.
