“Celebration” by Madonna – Tune Facts

“Celebration” by Madonna

This track (“Celebration”) marks the 40th time Madonna topped Billboard’s noted Dance Club Songs chart. That’s another way of saying that by this point in career, the Queen of Pop had firmly established herself as a musician who specializes in party songs.

And such is the case with this piece, in which the titular “celebration” is in fact identified as being a “party” in the chorus. And what the vocalist is admonishing the addressee to do, as usual in these cases, is to freely give themselves over to the spirit of the festivities. Or simply put, she’s more specifically encouraging them to dance.

Moreover as commonly found in such Madonna tunes, there is a romantic undertone identifiably present in the lyrics. And what she is doing is sort of challenging said individual to show her what he’s got. And why? Because presently, contrary to his reputation, he seems timid in terms of getting down.
