“Lost” by Bring Me The Horizon

The lyrics of “Lost” center on the vocalist’s sense of depression or more specifically, as inferred by the title, severe alienation. For example, one of the most-telling lines is in the pre-chorus, where we find Oli expressing the belief that he “don’t belong on this planet”.

And as implied, the character he’s portraying is on drugs, both legal and illicit, as well seeing a psychiatrist, etc. But none of that is making him feel better, so now he’s on the verge of a “break down” or something even worse, like suicide.

Indeed, the lyrics of “Lost” are so depressing in and of themselves that even in this relatively-dreary musical era we find ourselves in, some netizens have taken to social media to relatedly express their concern.

And what they proceeded to imply is that it would not be recommendable for someone who is truly suffering from depression or a chronic illness to listen to this song.

“Why am I this way?
Stupid medicine, not doin’ anything
What the hell is f–king wrong with me?
I guess there’s no remedy, own worst enemy
I’m so terribly lost”
