“Miss The Rage” by Trippie Redd and Playboi Carti

The chorus of “Miss the Rage” features primarily Trippie Redd, first of all, stating his focus on generating “guap”, i.e. cash. And considering that he’s whippin’ a Lamborghini truck and all, we know he’s not talking about the type achievable via your everyday job. That may be why, as alluded to in the first verse, he sometimes robs strangers who pass through the ‘hood on top of, we have to presume, other grimy acts.

The chorus concludes with Redd referring to a particular female who is a “b**ch like Mya” and “ho like Mimi”. It has been ascertained that he is perhaps referring to the singers who operate under those monikers, i.e. Mya and Mariah Carey.

And if such is actually the case, well, we’re not sure why he would go about labeling Mariah Carey, whose been married a couple of times, as a ho. But as far as Mya goes, she has long been considered one of the sexiest women in R&B, despite having been professionally active from even before Trippie Redd was born.

The aforementioned first verse, which Redd holds down, is highlighted by a bunch of gun talk, with the rapper even claiming that he and his homeys “shoot out helicopters” “like GTA”, i.e. the ultra-violent Grand Theft Auto videogame series.

In fact it reaches a certain point when reviewing albums largely based on such themes, like Trip at Knight, where analysts may come to the conclusion that rappers fantasize about perpetuating gun violence quite a lot.

Playboi Carti

But in the second verse, Playboy Carti takes the song in a different direction. He rather focuses on a particular ho(s) whom he has become infatuated with. And whereas he doesn’t use any words that are NSFW in and of themselves, the way the narrative plays out is definitely mature-minded and adult-oriented, as to be expected.

Final Thoughts on “Miss the Rage”

And with that said, putting this entire piece together we can say that Playboy Carti and Trippie Redd are about their money, b*tches and gang life. But as far as the title goes, what it actually alludes to is how Trippie Redd has ‘missed’ performing live – with “the rage” being a metaphor for revelous partying – due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, this is not a subject touched upon in the song.

The “Trip at Knight” Album

Trip at Knight is the fourth album of American singer and hip-hop artist Trippie Redd. 10k Projects and 1400 Entertainment released the album on August 20, 2021. Trippie Redd collaborated with many executive producers in the album’s production, including Hitmaka, Cashmere Cat, Taz Taylor, and many more.

Trip at Knight is a postscript album for the rapper’s debut album; Life’s a Trip. Before Trippie released Trip at Knight, he stated in one of his Instagram posts that he had been working on his new album, which he knows is a wonderful masterpiece. He added he wished to not feature any guest artist on the album, except for his old collaborator Chris King. However, when the album’s tracklist was announced on August 11, 2021, it featured several guest artists including, Juice Wrld, Lil Durk, Lil Uzi Vert, Drake, among others.

However, Trippie’s song Betrayal, which was included in the announced tracklist of August 11, was not included when the album was officially released on August 20. Again, Molly Hearts and Super Cell were formally titled Molly Heart and Supercell on the announced tracklist.

The album shortly peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart after its release. It also sold almost 100,000 units in its first month of release.
