“Someday We’ll All Be Free” by Kanye West – Tune Facts

“Someday We’ll All Be Free” by Kanye West

“Someday We’ll All Be Free” is the first song Kanye has dropped since going “death con 3 on Jewish people”, settling his divorce with Kim K. and basically establishing himself, if even only for the moment, as the most-popular conspiracy theorist perhaps in the world.

So perhaps needless to say, there’s a lot going on in this song. Kanye is a rapper who, throughout pretty much his entire career, has incorporated his real life into song. Indeed his real life happens to be a lot more compelling – and publicized – than most of his peers.

So we do find for instance him referencing that infamous “death con” tweet in the second verse. But in this instance, he doesn’t do so in the name of insinuating that he’s being blackballed by the Jewish powers that be. Instead he uses it to point to the thesis sentiment of this track, which is his belief that “someday we’ll all be free” in the near future.

Kanye’s Christian Faith

Indeed say what you want about Kanye West, but he’s never been what we would generally classify as a violent person, especially as far as rappers go. He made a name for himself, against the established norm of hip-hop, by being an artist with an overt Christian/familial slant to his music.

And let’s say that now, in his times of trouble, that religiosity is becoming more pronounced than ever. So for instance, this particular track has been added to the playlist of “Donda 2”, with the first “Donda” at least being the most religious album to ever be dropped by an A list rapper.

And likewise this very song, in actuality, is more than anything else a statement of Ye’s faith.

For instance, in the extended first verse, which lies at the heart of this piece, he puts forth that “the Bible said I can’t have any more sex ’til marriage”, which definitely isn’t the type of expression you’d hear from, say, Travis Scott or Drake.

And in truth, all that’s being put forth isn’t the easiest to understand. But it seems that what Kanye is getting at in these bars, more easily explained, is feeling victimized by his recent divorce. He feels as if he has been doing the right thing all along but has still been left without a “heiress”.

No True Friends

Afterwards, Ye really proceeds to engage in some babbling, if you will. But one of the discernible points made in the midst of this is the vocalist feeling as if he is devoid of true friends.

Also, Kanye presents himself as being fearless – that is besides “fear of the almighty Yashua” which, in some circles, is another name for Jesus.

The Unidentified Addressee in “Someday We’ll All Be Free”

He then gets a bit braggadocious (and especially does so at the beginning of the second verse) before claiming that some unidentified addressee has been encouraged by the media to abandon him. Said addressee, all things considered, may be a personification of the general public.

Or it may be that he is speaking to Kim Kardashian in particular since West has, in the past, basically accused the media of propagating their divorce.

“Someday We’ll All Be Free”

The interesting thing is that amidst it all, the one topic Yeezus doesn’t touch upon is why he’s convinced “someday we’ll all be free”. But that assertion too, obviously, is a manifestation of his faith. And it also illustrates that no matter what types of negative things people may say about Kanye in response to the startling remarks he tends to make, he obviously isn’t wishing ill upon anyone. Instead, his vision is along the lines of the entirety of mankind one day enjoying ‘freedom’.

Credits

Kanye West’s joint samples a track which itself is titled “Someday We’ll All Be Free”, as dropped by the late Donny Hathaway (1945-1979) in 1973. And it also interpolates “Nasty” (1986) by Janet Jackson, with Miss Jackson being the recipient of a roundabout shoutout in the second verse.

Release Date of “Someday We’ll All Be Free”

Ye unveiled this track on the 7th of December 2022. It was released exclusively via Infowars, i.e. the conspiracy theory site helmed by Alex Jones. In fact earlier in December 2022, Jones interviewed Kanye, with said exchange going absolutely viral. Part of that interview has been sampled into “Someday We’ll All Be Free”.

This track was reportedly added Kanye’s “Donda 2” album. This is an album that Kanye originally self-released closer to the beginning of 2022. That being said, the said addition has yet to be verified, as of this writing, by Wikipedia).
